Her Story
Anna Sue DeLong McBride a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother was welcomed to her heavenly home by her Lord and Savior, peacefully at her home in her sunroom with her family at her bedside, on Saturday, April 11th, 2026.
Anna Sue was born on April 9th, 1938, in the small and storied community of Wizard Wells, Texas a tiny town nestled just outside Jacksboro, about 66 miles northwest of Fort Worth. She was the daughter of William Francis DeLong, a French immigrant who served as a government Wolf Trapper for Texas Wildlife Services, and Ruby Moss Johnson DeLong, an English immigrant who was a devoted homemaker, hospital cook, and dedicated church pianist at Wizard Wells Baptist Church for many years.
Like her mother, Anna Sue developed a lifelong love of dominoes especially 42 and carried that spirit of play and fellowship throughout her life.
She married and became a devoted mother to four remarkable children, all of whom made their homes in Longview, Texas. Not one to be defined by circumstance, Anna Sue's perseverance led her to earn her GED, and she never stopped there. She went on to achieve her Bachelor of Science in Nursing a testament to her extraordinary determination and drive.
She built a career spanning numerous nursing roles, and took special pride in working alongside her daughters, Pam and Lisa, in the field of occupational health. A true entrepreneur at heart, she ran her own establishment, Sue's Place, and later became a beloved presence in the nursing world. She even found time to travel enjoying numerous trips to Europe and the Caribbean with her daughters and dear friends, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
